Semana 12

 Elder Lutze,

We continue to pray for your success, safety, and happiness. We're so grateful you are serving the Lord full time at this time in your life. This week, as usual, has been busy! Dad and I went on a date night Tuesday to see "Ticket to Paradise." It was cute. Wednesday night Cami and I went out for cheese curds and milkshakes at Arctic Circle. We enjoyed our time together. She's looking into a study abroad and I think also pondering on a mission, but later. I went to the Draper Temple on Friday and enjoyed an endowment session. My ministering sisters also stopped by for a visit. Sister Moyer passed away last Sunday and I went to her viewing Friday night. Amazing lady! It was so fun to see pictures when she was younger because I've only known her the last twenty years. Yesterday, Rachael came over to help me prepare for our Thanksgiving dinner today. (I wish I could snap my fingers and send you a plate.)

I've been reading 2 Kings this week - another story of wicked and righteous kings. It's amazing to me how they alternate. Josiah became the king at eight and was described as follows "And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him." And even with this, so much damage was done by his father that most of the people persisted in their wicked ways. Josiah changed because Hilkiah found the "magic" scriptures in the temple and brought them to Josiah and he read them. Josiah gained knowledgefelt something about it ("And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes"), and then did something about it. We read, "And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the word of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant." I find it interesting that we stand when we make our first covenant at baptism! That is your role as a missionary to help those around you gain knowledge (truth), feel the Spirit which pushes them towards action (doing) or actually making important covenants with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. So go out there and help them know, feel, and do.

I love you!

Mom
